In conjunction with the UK Government’s Department of Trade and Industry,
Electrokinetic is developing the application of EKG to enhance
the performance of natural sports turf. EKG can improve drainage and aeration,
prevent freezing and control physical performance such as shear strength and
ball bounce.
Results show that EKG can control moisture content and related physical performance
such as ball bounce and offer benefits such as improved shade tolerance of
plants, which is especially helpful in coping with the low lighting conditions
in large modern stadia.

Median resilience (ball bounce) before and after treatment in 4 different electrode arrays and control.
EKG in Array 1 counteracts the effects of shade on chlorophyll fluorescence of grass leaves, indicating the potential benefit of EKG in improving growth in shaded conditions associated for example with modern sports stadia.
